MATLAB® is widely available in many academic institutions. Our CFD software can be readily used at the universities and other research institutions in conjunction with MATLAB®. The advantages over classical CFD solvers are the following:
- low entry-cost - very likely you already know how to handle data in MATLAB®
- CFD code can be readily integrated into larger projects based on MATLAB® and fully compatible with other toolboxes
- code transparency - neither the ‘black-box approach’ as in commercial codes with GUI nor the complexity of C++ in OpenFOAM
- code flexibility - implement your custom modifications: move the grid the way you want, implement extra material models or test your own iterative solvers
Additional advantages for teaching purposes:
- by seeing the ‘maths’ underlying the CFD solver, students learn the logic of the whole process instead of ‘where-to-click’ approach
- plenty of learning materials available on-line in form of tutorial texts, m-files as well as YouTube movies. The base keeps on growing
